We at Seitai Acupuncture specialize in Japanese Acupuncture which focuses on “branch and root” treatment.
The practitioner will examine your pulses, palpate your abdomen, look at your tongue and palpate different meridians and points to find any abnormalities and conclude a diagnosis.
Once that’s done, we begin with the “root” treatment which includes a maximum of 6 points in the areas below your knees and elbows. These points are specially selected to balance the patients pulses and are left for 10-15 mins.
Once the “root” treatment is completed, the practitioner will select points for the “branch” treatment. These points are specially selected to correct the chief complaint the patient comes in with. These points are generally left for about 25-30 minutes.
After the root treatment, other modalities such as moxibustion, fire cupping, blood letting, or massage could also be applied depending on both the nature of the chief complaint and the practitioner’s discretion.
